Last week I had to renew my drivers license and renew my tags on my plate. So I went to the secretary of state office during my lunch break,to get it all done. Plus the wait time at that office is shorter compared to the one at home.
So I get all the paperwork done and ready to pay with my debit card which is a Visa, and the Lady says ” oh we don’t take visa, only mastercard and discovery or a check. But we have a ATM that you can use your Visa on right there” and points towards the wall. Now since I don’t have neither accepted card and have no personal checks currently, I was forced to use the ATM machine and pay a $2.00 fee to withdraw money to finish the transaction.
Okay so I got to thinking, that the State of Michigan has found another way to raise revenue or as I like to call it rip us off some more, because I am pretty sure they are making at least 50 cents per transaction to have one of these ATM’s in their office. And to make it even more profitable not accepting Visa, because if you look at all your debit cards what logo is on them? Yuppers you are right it is Visa, unless you are fortunate enough to have both and a discovery card.
I went on the State of Secretary’s website later and there they do accept Visa, I wonder why.
Guess what? I won’t be renewing anything at any local office anymore just online.
So people of Michigan beware, the State has found another way to get into our pockets.
In the past I had several chances to travel to East Coast States. The last one was to Virginia Beach. I am one of those people that when on Vacation still cannot sleep in, and has the need to do something. So when I wake up at 5 am I usually go for a walk and check things out. I also get a chance to witness spectacular Sunrises.
But for Sunsets, Michigan is the place to be. We have the best Sunsets ever over the Lake. It is so peaceful, and you just feel like you are in sync with the rest of the world.
This picture is nothing compared to what we get to see during the Summer, it was taken with my Camera phone on my way back home on Sunday. Once the weather stays nicer, I will make my way down to the Lake with a better Camera and take a better picture of the Sunset. But just imagine this Fireball sinking into the Lake and makeing it lite up like fire all orange and red.
As much as I do not like Michigan during the Winter months, I sure love it during the Summer. I guess it has to redeem itself to us, for giving us a heck of a Winter all the time.
Please people help me!!! As all of you know I quit smoking in December. Which I didn’t do of my own free will, I got forced into it. But nontheless I had to quit.
Well it has actually been going very well, probably due to the fact I was on pain medications, and they subdued the urge to smoke. But now that I am not on pain medications anymore, my brain tends to think I need to smoke.
So when I get that urge, I look for food. Oh yea..I am at it again. I love me some Chocolate, then some Crackers, then some chicken..and lets see what else I got in the Freezer. Going back to get some Orange sherbet, not just once but twice. Oh I bought some sourdough bread, and there is the cream cheese…a slice or two won’t hurt. I am afraid I will gain all my weight back and then you will have to roll me out the door. And I just invested in some new smaller size jeans, because my old ones weren’t staying up anymore, but I would have looked cool with the kids that wear their pants around their knees.
At work well I realized I am running out of change very fast, because it is being used to get a snack here and there out of the Vending machine. What is wrong with me? And then to make it worse, my daughter asks to make Brownies, helllooo..toots..you don’t wear anything you eat. I DO !
So now I have invested in gum. I am not much of a gum chewer but I suppose I need to curb the food intake somehow. If you hear of a woman with hamster cheeks in Michigan, with pants around her knees, that will be me looking for food.
