{August 7, 2011}   What now?

That is the question that I have been asked over the last 3 months from lots of people. What will I do now, that soon I will experience the empty nest with my daughter going off to College and with me having a lot more free time and I mean a lot more on my hands.

I don’t know. Yup, there I said it. I just don’t know. I can already hear the gears grinding in some peoples heads in trying to rope me into doing something else. But you will not succeed!..I will resist!

I am thinking of making up a list, of things that I would like to do or see. Some say it’s a midlife crisis list or a bucket list. But I am not in a midlife crisis, nor do I plan on kicking the bucket any time soon. I rather make a game out of it, like “Where is Waldo”..yeah that’s what I will do. I will post pictures of various new things or places that I am doing or am, and people have to guess what it is.  So we all stay entertained I suppose.

But nonetheless, it will be quiet around here. Am I ready for it? Yes and No. I mean this is my baby that is going off to College and even though we have our share of fights and there are times that we probably can’t stand the sight of each other ( typical teenage stuff you know), we have our good times, the laughter and the craziness. And those are the times that I will miss. So I suppose it is time to be crazy on my own…watch out now! ;)

{February 13, 2011}   I have become one of them

So I decided to finally join the world of Smartphone users. I have had just a regular cell phone with a qwerty keyboard to text and stuff, but I wanted to expand my horizon a bit more.  So I decided to bite the proverbial bullet and order a Blackberry Curve. Got a nice deal on it by ordering it online and I was so excited, like a little kid in a candy shop, that I continously checked the online delivery tracking for it’s arrival.

I couldn’t wait to get home Friday. I was so giddy. When I finally got my hands on the box I couldn’t open it fast enough, I even spilled my glass of milk prying the darn packaging apart to get to it. But thanks to 2 wonderful cleaner uppers called Ayla and Tika the mess on the floor was gone in no time.

So I finally got it out of the box, and proceeded to switch service over from one phone to the other. Well online instructions for this seem to be perfectly laid out for everyone to understand but me. Somehow it didn’t like me. So I decided to call Customer Service and got a wonderful lad named Michael to help me.

Once Michael and I established that I am a customer and gave him the necessary numbers and information about my account we proceeded to get the Blackberry to work.

“Would you please turn the Blackberry on now.”

” Sure”

” Okay, you should see the Blackberry logo come up”

“Nope not seeing that”

“Okay, what do you see?”

” Nothing, like it isn’t turning on” ” Wait, now I have a battery with a line through on the screen.”

” Hmmm, looks like the Battery is empty.” ” Did you charge the phone?”

“No I didn’t. I just removed out of the box and connected the charger to it.”

“When you removed the phone from the box, did you put the Battery in it?”

” There is a battery? Let me check.”

” Okay Michael, just for your information, this conversation never happened okay.” ” I am not who I said I was, and if you have to jot this moment down anywhere for your own amusement, please use a fake name.”

“<laughter> No problem. Don’t worry, I get moments like them too <laughter>”

So yes I have become one of them, you know the ones that forget to plug things in to get them to work and panic and call Customer Service, just to find out that it is actually the user that has the problem.

Oh and the phone works awesome, if you know what your doing. But I am sure I will get the hang of it eventually.

{May 14, 2009}   Another moment to remember

Quick funny from last night. Thought I would share. Since everytime I think about it I gotta laugh.

Every Wednesday I go out with a couple of friends of mine. I call them troublemakers, because 2 years ago they decided to re-decorate my front lawn with styrofoam cups skewed with hot dog sticks in the ground, plastic forks all over and shaving cream in the driveway on the front porch and Vaseline on the door. I should also mention it was payback from 2 Band Directors, since I TP’d their Cabin at Band camp. It was my Son’s Senior year, and my Daughter’s freshman year and I opted to be a Senior Mom so I could get into trouble.

Back to last night. One of my friends came to pick me up and we went to pick up the other friend. When we got to her house , I said I would get into the backseat, it be easier on me then her. So I got out of the car, shut the car door, to open the back door and get in. Sounds simple right? Well, not if there isn’t a backseat door.I am not sure what possessed me to think there was. The look was priceless that I had on my face when I discovered it was not going to happen. I did like a obscure Chinese fire drill..got out, closed the door, turned in a circle just to be abruptly stopped by the absence of another door. I opened the Passenger door again, and my friend was just busting out laughing, and the other that we picked up had tears in her eyes. My face had to be red, I felt very dumb at that point, but had to laugh. My friend that was driving said, this made his day. He will never forget the look on my face when I discovered there was no door.  Anyway we got to the Bar and both turned around and asked me if I was exiting the car a different way then the usual. I just love my friends.
